About

it me

Hey, I’m Jarvis Miller

I recently finished my second year as PhD student at University of Michigan. I’ve received my Master’s along the way and spent Summer 2018 doing data science at BuzzFeed. I’ve decided to leave my program and pursue full time opportunities. I love my program but I want to spend time wrangling different data, working with diverse teams, and seeing the impact of my work in (almost) real-time.

While I was buried in homework during grad school, I took a few online courses related to computing and attempted small projects like this blog to put things into practice. You can see more about the work I do by checking out my resume!

My research interests are related to helping improve how introductory Statistics is taught to majors and non-majors, such that those who will use Statistics can be confident that they are doing so safely and correctly.

All in all, I’m passionate about data visualization and making complex things easier to digest.

If you want to reach out to me, you can find my email and twitter in the little widgets below. I’m always happy to chat about what I love and hear others chat about what they love.
